AMS Infection Prevention Partners Welcomes New Medical Director

Dr. Don Simmons, MD, FAAFP
AMS Infection Prevention Partners is pleased to announce the appointment of a new medical director to lead our clinical team. Dr. Don Simmons, MD, FAAFP, adds decades of experience serving long-term communities to our infection prevention and control programs. In fact, Dr. Don has dedicated more than half of his career to serving the geriatric population, having worked as both medical director and staff physician for 18 long-term care homes, home health and hospice organizations in Oklahoma and Texas.

In addition to his tenure in long-term care, Dr. Don previously held chief of staff positions at three different hospitals in Texas, and is currently a clinic physician and owner of Primary Care Associates in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Dr. Don also works as an emergency department (ED) physician at Jane Phillips Medical Center in addition to other area EDs and is medical director for Kindful Hospice. Named a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2012, he is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
